Like the last bird in the nest when all others have flown away, like the last golden leaf on the tree one Autumn day. The final drop of snow in Winter that melts upon the path, the one with family and friends but no significant other to make her laugh. The final stone in a rockery where all the others have been kicked away, Eating, drinking, working, having fun but always one thing missing in her day . Someone to hug, kiss and love. She is the one that asks, will it always be this way? Surrounded by everything on the outside but ever feeling alone within.

Very interesting poem. I'll have to post one of my poems that I wrote a few months ago up here. I like yours, though. It's very intriguing, and the ending is slightly surprising from how it starts.
